The seniors section welcomes all members over the age of 55 to join them in any of their golfing activities.
The section is not full of miserable old men but guys full of zip, zap, and zing.
There is a superb fixture list against some of the premier members clubs in Essex and East Herts, a total of 26 fixtures! These matches are eagerly anticipated as they provide a great day’s golf, good company, and a superb atmosphere. Lunch is included and the home team act as hosts. Friendships are renewed every year in these home and away fixtures.
If you want some serious competition then the seniors can provide that too. Every month there is a competition with prizes to be won trophies to be awarded and it culminates with the award of our very own Claret Jug presented by a long standing and popular member of our club Chris Bullivant. Also there are 2 knock out competitions The Barnes Cup and the Scrivener Trophy, the Barnes is a singles competition and the Scrivener is a 4somes competition. The total prize value to be won over the season exceeds £600, not quite European Tour prize money but competed for in a great spirit.
We meet twice a week for our regular golf at 8-30 we draw the cards and off we go. We all meet up for lunch in the bar and the crack continues!
If you would like to join us you will find a very warm welcome. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact either myself or our Hon Sec Peter Dawson, or any other member of the section, oh by the way we also send a representative to the National Seniors Hall of Fame a great event in aid of charity, yes there is a great deal going on and you can be part of it, just come along and join a very friendly very organised group, who play golf with a great spirit and are definitely "young at heart" (as Frank sang)
